Unicorn Frequency

Unicorn Frequency is a London-based, fiery, genre-defying ensemble bringing together some of Europe’s finest classical, jazz and traditional musicians, featuring violin, guitar, double bass, percussion and vocals. Led by Romanian concert violinist Bogdan Vacarescu, the group brings together musicians with distinguished international careers and a shared passion for crossing musical boundaries.
At the heart of Unicorn Frequency is a passion for rediscovering overlooked musical traditions and neglected repertoire, breathing new life into music that deserves to be heard. Their programmes weave together Hungarian folk, Romanian laments, Bulgarian dances, Russian Romani music, Greek tango, Italian pizzicas, tarantellas and Griko tunes, alongside forgotten gems from the classical repertoire, free improvisation and jazz. The result is a vibrant musical journey that celebrates the richness of Europe’s cultural heritage while creating something fresh, spontaneous and unmistakably their own.
